A budget app that never asks for your bank login
Kasa is a money tracker that works without connecting to your bank. You add spending yourself in a few seconds, rent, salary and subscriptions post themselves every month, and you can import a card statement to see what a bill was spent on. Your bank login never leaves your bank, and Kasa has no ads or trackers.
Why skip the bank connection
- Your credentials stay with your bank. Bank-sync apps get access to your accounts through a third-party aggregator. Kasa never has it.
- Nothing to break. There is no connection to expire, re-authorise or silently stop importing.
- You notice your spending. Typing an entry takes seconds and makes you see each purchase, which is often the point of tracking it.
How Kasa keeps it quick
- Monthly schedules. Rent, salary, subscriptions and loan payments post themselves on their day. A schedule can end after a set month.
- Still to pay. Planned bills show until you mark them paid, so you know what’s coming before it leaves.
- Foreign amounts. Pick the currency you paid in and the day’s exchange rate is filled in.
- Card statements. Instead of typing every card purchase, record the card bill once and import the card’s CSV statement into it. Each purchase becomes an item in its own category. The file is read in your browser; only the rows you tick are saved.
Keeping balances right
Without a bank feed, small mistakes could add up. Kasa avoids that: whenever you like, set an account’s real value on a day (from your banking app) and every balance counts from there. Old or missing history can’t make today’s number wrong.
What Kasa stores
Your email, a salted PBKDF2 hash of your password, your settings and the entries you make. Each person’s data is separate, and there are no analytics or advertising cookies. Read the privacy page.
Questions
Isn’t entering everything by hand a lot of work?
Less than it sounds. Most of a month is rent, salary and bills, which post themselves as monthly schedules. What’s left is everyday spending, a few seconds per entry, and card bills can be split by importing the card statement.
Which banks does it work with?
All of them, because it doesn’t connect to any. Statement import reads CSV files, which most online banks let you download, in European and US number formats.
Does Kasa work on my phone?
Yes. Open it in your browser and add it to your home screen to use it like an app.
